I love traveling around the world and exploring different countries, however, I always find my way back to Mexico, and this trip, I got to relax and enjoy Cuixmala in La Huerta, Jalisco, Mexico!
Cuixmala is a 30,000 acre, luxury, eco-travel ranch that was originally the private summer home developed and created by Sir James Goldsmith. After his passing, the family decided to open to the world as a resort!
The main house looks like a Moroccan fantasy palace, but the property also includes an additional 10 casitas, 3 large villas, and 6 bungalows! The stunning architecture and design in every room and casita adds to the immersive feeling of being in Jalisco. I wish I could have a summer home, but can you imagine having one as extravagant as this?!
The ranch also has a wildlife preserve complete with a herd of zebras, kudu, crocodiles, wild boar, iguanas, and armadillos. I had the amazing opportunity to be invited on this luxurious vacation for our dear family friend’s 50th birthday celebration. Spent 4 glorious days tanning, eating and enjoying themed parties, plus we enjoyed some great activities like a boat cruise through a mangrove forest looking for alligators, and horseback riding through the ranch. No helmet, no “nose to butt” trail riding, just free galloping through the jungle and out on the beach… with the occasional zebras in my path. When staying at Cuximala, we also got access to their private beach called Playa Caleta Blanca. It felt like being on your own remote private island with clear waters, cavernous rock islands to explore, and surprisingly warm waters, as if the ocean included a hidden jacuzzi heater!
It was an activity-packed 4 days, and even so, it wasn’t nearly enough time to check out everything on the property! It was truly a once in a lifetime experience that I one day hope to be able to do again with my family.
