Looking out onto the streets of the old fortress city of Dubrovnik, Croatia from The Pucic Palace Hotel, gave me a chance to take a break from the heat and decide what to see next.
There is so much to see and do in this beautiful UNESCO World Heritage city. It has everything; incredible history, surrounded by the crystal clear, turquoise Adriatic sea, lovely beaches, amazing food, super clean, safe city and great weather. What more could you ask for? A GOT tour! if you are a die hard GOT fan, Dubrovnik’s jaw dropping fortress walls and marina double as King’s Landing and the Black Water in the uber popular Game of Thrones series.
It’s so hot, I only wish that winter was coming sooner! Most of Dubrovnik’s citizens have been in at least one of the GOT episodes as extras, and they all have really fun behind the scenes stories to share (the people here are crazy nice!). Like how Cersei’s infamous “Walk of Shame” was almost not allowed to be shot in the city because it was within plain site of the local cathedral and authorities thought the scene was too scandalous! Which it totally was, but clearly something was worked out and many of the city’s inhabitants ended up wanting to be extra’s in the scene. Take the GOT tour to see all the recognizable scene spots. Even if you’re not a fan, it’s kinda hard to resist leaving without an Iron Throne selfie 🙂
Make sure you walk the top of the Old City walls, and climb to the top of Fort Lovrijenac or take the cable car to the very top of the hill for the most amazing birds eye views of the entire city- Truly an amazing sight! It’s really something you have to see it person, it’s THAT cool.
Shout out to Beyonce and Jay Z for putting this awesome city on everyone’s immediate travel radar when they visited a few years ago.
