There are myriad waterfalls in Maui, but my two favorites are well hidden and off the beaten path called Caveman and Twin Falls waterfalls. They are perfectly un-touristy because most Hana visitors look for the more famous , “right off the highway” spots. It takes a bit of a hike to reach these two, but I guarantee that Twin Falls is worth every minute spent tracking them down.
The hike through the jungle to the falls was more gorgeous than any other hike I’ve been on. There was so much to see and learn about on the way, like the different types of edible plants, some of which I had to try for myself of course! I also learned what plants call Maui home after being brought over from other countries. We even found “mans best friend” on the hike who tagged along as our jungle guide dog!
And no trip is complete without getting to check an item off my bucket list: Jumping off a waterfall! Not only are the falls are safe to swim in, but they’re some of the only falls in Maui that you’re allowed to jump off of! Hopefully, this will be the first of many trips to Twin Falls in Maui because it was such a great adventure and so breathtakingly beautiful.
This is a must-see, must-hike, must-swim, and definitely must-jump destination!
Travel tip: Be prepared for the mud –it will not come out of your shoes! Take the hike in an old pair that you don’t mind trashing and kissing goodbye at the end.
